Prerequisites

In order to execute any processes in the ProjectWise Level 2 connector, some configurations must be made in both ProjectWise and AssetWise.

Important: Both systems must share the same unique set of projects that represent project breakdown. If this is not a one-to-one relationship between both systems, the Level 2 connector processes will not function.

The option for AssetWise to create a project from a ProjectWise template is available and is often the safest way to ensure consistency at the project level.

In ProjectWise:

In order to execute any processes in the ProjectWise Level 2 connector, ProjectWise must be configured to meet the basic needs of a document management system. This includes:

  • Storing metadata on every file for:
    • Document Number (unique across the project)
    • Document Revision
    • Document Title
    • Document Status
  • Storing files within a logical folder structure that maps one-to-one to document metadata (preferably metadata contained in a document number such as document type or discipline)
  • File names must match the unique document number
  • Have a Project folder that maps one-to-one with projects in AssetWise. This can be achieved by using AssetWise to create a Project folder from a ProjectWise template that is placed into a project destination folder:
    1. Create a Project template folder structure. See Creating a Project Template Folder Structure in ProjectWise.
    2. Create a Project destination folder. See Creating a Project Destination Folder in ProjectWise.

In AssetWise:

  1. Enable Project template folder structure and project destination folder in AssetWise System Management Console . See "To Add the ProjectWise Projects and Folders You Want to Monitor" in the AssetWise Implementation Guide.
  2. Configure default synchronization options.
  3. If necessary, perform attribute mapping for the project destination folder. See "Mapping ProjectWise Attributes" in AssetWise Director Help.
  4. Configure ProjectWise Native/Rendition files and Native/Rendition copies. See Configuring ProjectWise Native Rendition Files and Copies .
  5. Configure document registration ProjectWise mode.
  6. Configure project classes to be registered into ProjectWise.
  7. Configure document to project relationship setting.
  8. Configure the Revision Action setting.
